Series:

The Crucifixion produces Hope

It’s Friday but Sunday is coming.”

Here in lies the message of hope.

Today we remember the awful suffering of Jesus on Good Friday.

The message of the cross gives hope to everyone who receives Jesus as their personal Saviour.

He became as we are so we can become like Him.

Romans 5:8 – But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

John 19:30 – When He received the drink Jesus said, “It is Finished.” With that He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.

“It is Finished” translated from Greek word Tetelestai meaning: Paid in full.

It’s an accounting term. Jesus was saying the debt owed by man to his creator, on account of Adams sin.

It is finally and forever dealt with.

John 17:4 – I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.

Because of the cross we have hope for a better future

They put Jesus to death But God raised Him back to life.

Three times in the book of Acts (disciple) Luke the writer lets us know that, no matter what people tried to do to Jesus

God had a different plan.

Acts 3:14-15 (NLT) – You rejected this holy righteous one and instead demanded the release of a murderer. You killed the author of life; But God raised Him from the dead.

#1.Hebrews 12:2 – Fix our eyes on Jesus, author and finisher of our faith.

#2. Acts 10:39-40 (NLT) – And we apostles are witnesses of all He did throughout Judea and in Jerusalem. They put Him to death by hanging Him on a cross; But God raised Him to life on the third day.

#3. Acts 13:29-31 (LB) – When they had fulfilled all the prophesies concerning His death, He was taken from the cross and placed in a tomb; But God brought Him back to life again.

It is a historical fact that the Romans pitied their victims that went to the cross. It was the most wretched of deaths.

After the out pouring of the fire of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:24 – But God raised Him from the dead, freeing Him from the agony of death because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on Him.

Here in lies our Hope

Romans 8:11 – And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you. He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who lives in you

A crucified life produces a hope filled resurrected life.

Because of Jesus we have the “But God” activated in our lives.

We can overcome anything even death (Oh death where is your sting?)

It’s Friday but Sunday is coming!

This is my prayer for everyone listening to this message:

Romans 15:13 – May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 62:5 – Yes my soul find rest in God; my hope comes from Him. is own love.
