Preacher:

Don’t leave baby Jesus in the manger.

“What is Christmas? It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present,

hope for the future.” – Agnes M. Pahro

Isaiah 9:6-7 (LB) - 6For unto us a child is born; unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder. These will be his royal titles: “Wonderful,” “Counselor,” “The Mighty God,” The Everlasting Father,” “The Prince of Peace.” 7His ever-expanding, peaceful government will never end. He will rule with perfect fairness and justice from the throne of his father David. He will bring true justice and peace to all the nations of the world. This is going to happen because the Lord of heaven’s armies has dedicated himself to do it!

Christmas isn’t just a day it’s a lifestyle to be lived 24/7 365 days a year.

It happens every year from as early as September. We see baby Jesus everywhere on cards, in stores, on TV, even homes are done up with lights. The message: “Christmas is in the air.”

There was this article written in a USA Journal December the 1st called: “HO HO NO!!”

Title: “The Anti-Clause is coming to town.”  It was about a man called Tom Flynn; he was going to explain to rational free thinking people why they shouldn’t celebrate Christmas.

He urges non-believers to ignore Christmas altogether. Here’s his key quote: “If Jesus is not your Saviour, Christmas is not your holiday.” (How true is this statement?)

It’s true that Christians believed that 2000 years ago something amazing changed the destiny of humanity.

The sad thing is: The very reason for the Season has been left out of the Season….

Far too many people after this Christmas day will go back to their normal way of life, and leave Jesus in the manger as this cuddly, loving little baby and not much more.

Jesus is not in the manger anymore! He is not walking around in Jerusalem. He is not on the cross. He is not in the grave either. He is seated at the right hand of the Almighty God.

1 Peter 3:22 (LB) – And now Christ is in heaven, sitting in the place of honor next to God the Father, with all the angels and powers of heaven bowing before him and obeying him.

He is not a baby in a manger. All authority and power are made subject to Him. No matter how crazy this world may get in the years to come; Jesus is and always will be in control.

John 1:1 (NIV) – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Jesus is not some baby in the manger, He is God.

When you look at Him as God you look at Him completely differently:-

  • You see His power
  • His Glory- His omnipotence
  • His Love, His forgiveness
  • His righteousness and justice

Far too many people see little Jesus meek and mild. This Christmas season may we discover that Jesus, although born as a baby in a manger.

He grew up – died – rose up and is ready to be the God of breakthrough in whatever area of life that you may need Him to be.

Paul describes Jesus this way:

2 Corinthians 9:15 (Amp) – Now thanks be to God for His indescribable gift [which is precious beyond words]!

  • Do you need a breakthrough?
  • A healing?
  • A financial miracle?
  • Restoration in a relationship?

This amazing Gift we celebrate today wants you to have the gift of abundant life.

My prayer is that you will enjoy this Christmas and that you will serve this wonderful Saviour 24/7 365 days a year.
